What I meant to say was sorry to butt in, but my grandad was in the Royal horse artillary,  Charles Richard Edwards, 604286,  I never had the good grace to meet him, ( died young )  and have not got any pics of him in uniform, I was wondering if a kind soul has a pic of a ( driver ) and what he might of looked like, and the kind of  ordinance he would have had to towed around,

Merry Christmas all

Pete :) :)

Audmik,

I had a quick look through the John Edwards + RFA medal index cards, but nothing jumped out at me. I haven't looked at RGA and RHA though. There was a West Riding Heavy Battery RGA and a West Riding Battery RHA.

Pete,

This is the best I can do, apart from men sitting on horses  ;D , from my own collection. It's a bit stylised, but a period piece.

Ebay is a good source of pictures at times.

Perhaps this pic from my youth wil help...Certainly conjured up images when I was small!!

Not the most accurate of course...

 :)thanks for the pics.
I think that I may have found him as John Edwards joining the Territorial Force in 1909 Sheffield- 3rd West  Riding Bde RFA. - also waiting for his marriage cert to see if this will give me more info to go on.

Hello
Read this thread with interest, and wondered if any of you kind chaps could help me. I am trying to find out more about the war of my grandad, Norman Brunton. I found records on Ancestry, but trying to make sense of them and turn them into a coherent story seems almost impossible with my lamentable lack of history!
He was a Gunner and driver in RFA, reg no 776782, a member of 312 Brigade, 1st West Riding Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He signed up for 4 years on 2/2/1915, and seems to have served in France, and Germany. He was awarded Victory medal for service in theatre of war and British War Medal For service abroad. He wasnt always a good soldier and was disciplined several times during his service. I would love to put meat on the bare bones of these facts and would love someone to help me with this. I am sure there are people out there who would be abvle to fill me in in a short time - here's hoping they read this! Thanks,
Karen :)
