Thomas Murray, Ballynary m. Mitton
« on: Tuesday 16 December 08 05:29 GMT (UK) »
Recently I came across a well-researched and descriptive family history about Thomas MURRAY and wife Abigail nee MITTON who migrated from Ireland with some of their relatives and settled in southern inland Queensland in the 1800s.

The history, a 300+ page tribute to the " Nineteenth Century Settlers in a Sunburned Land " provides an interesting insight into Queensland's pioneers.

G'day Tony

My apologies, for not making it clearer.
Thomas MURRAY married your possible MITTON descendant.

Nineteenth Century Settlers by Allen J. W. Murray

The full name is -
Nineteenth Century Settlers in a Sunburned Land

A family history about the author's ancestors who migrated from Scotland, Ireland and England, their descendants and some of their relatives who settled in Queensland in the 1800s.

Hi,

My great great grandfather was Thomas Murray.  I would really like to get a copy of the book
19th Century Settlers in a Sunburnt Land by Allen J. W. Murray.
Has anyone been able to get a copy?  Do you know where I can get a copy?  I've tried CopyRight Publishing and a few other places but they do not seem to have a copy in stock.
Thanks so much for the information.
Anne Murray

Hi and Welcome,

The National Library of Australia's website shows they have copy,  and they list 5 public libraries with copy.  Perhaps your local library could organise an Inter-library loan?

Hi JM,

Thanks so much.  I don't know if Australia would do an interlibrary loan all the way to Canada, but it is a nice idea.

I have asked one Library to at least print me a copy of the first chapter.

Thanks so much for your help.

I have, in past years,  used the Interloan facilities via both the National Library of Australia and also the NSW State Library and at times they have resourced overseas Libraries ...  :)  :D  :D  it may depend on their current partnerships or regional sharing arrangements,  but perhaps you could email the National Library of Australia and check if they have existing interloan arrangements with Canada...

Hi JM,
Thanks so much.

I have contacted the National Library of Australia.  They also have something called CopyDirect, which can allow you to get a scanned copy of a books or parts of a book.  Fingers crossed.

I appreciate all your help.
Thanks so much.
