William Monk from Stone, bap. 1789
« on: Tuesday 16 December 08 18:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I am trying to disambiguate an ancestor of mine and was wondering whether anyone might be able to assist. According to my information, William Monk was born in Stone in c. 1787 (1785 by death certificate, 1790 by 1841 and 1851 census, 1788 by 1861 census), the son of William Monk. A trawl through the Stone baptism records shows a William Monk b. 22 May 1789 who fits the bill. Unfortunately other information that I have found on the Web seems to appropriate this baptism for a William Monk who was deported to Australia in 1813 - mine stayed in Bucks.

Can anyone clear this up?

Cheers,

Matthew
