I AM FIRSTLY TRYING TO TRACE WILLIAM ELLEY BORN THINK BELFAST AROUND 1929/32. HE HAD A SISTER KATHLEEN & STEP FAMILY. ALSO MISS ALISON MCCURDY LEATHERHEAD EX MIDWIFE? BOTH ELDERLY. ALSO FRIENDS FROM CARSHALTON HIGH SCHOOL FOR GIRLS. BUT ESPECIALLY TRYING TO FIND INFO & PICS OF A PLACE I LIVED AS A CHILD IT WAS A HOUSE CALLED LADYMOUNT,EVELYN WAY ( I THINK), WALLINGTON SURREY, I WENT LAST YEAR & IT HAS GONE BUT I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS BEFORE I LIVED THERE & WHAT IT BECAME BEFORE IT WAS KNOCKED DOWN BUT ESPECIALLY PICS OF THE HOUSE & PICS ,WALLINGTON, CARSHALTON, SUTTON & CROYDON IN THE 60;S & EARLY 70,S .I AM WILLING TO PAY COSTS FOR PHOTOS ECT. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE IS THERE ANYONE THAT CAN HELP

Hi Maz59,   

Welcome to rootschat, I am fairly new myself, only been here about 3 months.  Everyone is very friendly and they all try to help. 

I am in NSW Australia, so I do not know much about your side of the globe, but:  Have you tried google images for that house Ladymount?  I tried and found google images of where one of my UK rellies lived back in the 1800's.   Or perhaps check online for map with "satellite" images of the street? 

I hope other rootschatters (who could all be a tad busy with Chrissy things for their immediate families) will be able to give you better clues.

You will need to have made 3 posts on rootschat (and perhaps not in capitals cause that can sometimes mean you are shouting - I only found that out recently, so I could be wrong) and then you can send PM (Personal Messages).  So, perhaps you could reply to this posting and then you will have your third!

Hi Maz59,

Yes, this is the very bestest site ever found.   Everyone goes to the nth degree to help each other.   Different people are online at different times of the day/night, depending on when they have spare moments in their lives, so it is 7:57 pm in NSW Australia on  Thurs 18 Dec, but obviously it would be mid morning in the UK.

If you take the time to read many of the hints on the Beginners section, and then work out how to get to the UK County (Surry ?) you should be off and running!

Welcome to Rootschat Maz59 hope that the site will be of use to you.
re your query over photographs of Ladymount Evelyn Way Wallington. It would appear that the property was purchased by Laing Homes in about 1993 and it was they that built the properties that are now on its site. Could you not contact them via their website  www.lainghomes.co.uk
 and enquire as to if they took any photographs of the site and house prior to it being demolished and rebuilt, if you give the reason why you are looking for images of the house it may help in getting a positive reply (you never know they may still have purchase details on file that has a photograph attached ) or if they could not help would they be able to point you in a direction that may be of use to you (such as the people who carried out an archaeological dig there in the october 1993 before the building work began). Another avenue to try is the local library for that area as they may have a local histories librarian who could help with an equiry such as yours.

Thank you so much I am going to put pen to paper this afternoon as I cannot find email address. i did come across some paperwork written up by the council about the land in 1993 so I wondered iif thats when it was knocked down. thank you again for your help mary x

Thank you for that i actually come across that photo site a couple of days ago & there are some great pics of places i remember so well but none of the house that i want but ive had a great response with this & hopefully a very good lead, a gentleman has given me the info of the company that bought & rebuilt on the site so hopefully they will be able to help me . thanks for your reply all info is gratefully received thanks mary x
