« on: Monday 07 February 05 16:51 GMT (UK) »
Need information on the following:

Fischer (Fisher) Lewis (Louis)

born  abt 1840  (Alsace-Lorraine)
came to the port of  NY on the boat Aristides in 28-3-1867 from Le Harve
Moved to Paterson, New Jersey, USA

Married to:

Julia(Juliana)
born abt 1842

Three of their children were born in Alsace Lorraine:

Louis abt. 1860
Charles abt. 1861
William abt. 1863

We do not know their parents names, nor the town they were living.

They had six more sons born in the US:

Augustus abt. 1867
Daniel abt. 1862
George A. Fischer (my relative) abt. 1873
Joseph abt. 1876
Frank abt. 1879
Henry Mills Fischer

There was a border living with them listed as being a nephew Hemy Mills in a census in Paterson, New Jersey.

Hi brandsberg,

here's some background material to Alsace-Lorraine

http://www.genealogienetz.de/reg/ELS-LOT/alsace.html

and here is my "rainy afternoon" tip:  go to  http://www.geneanet.org/

Enter
country: France,
district: Alsace
Name: FISCHER

you get 3267 entries.  Most of these are linked to web-sites with family trees.  If you browse around some of these sites, you could get lucky and recognise some names and places.

Good luck,
Bob
