Hi Liz

The Baptist Chapel, Rye transcribed in 1862 by G Slade Butler has just one stone remaining to the Clark Family:

No 0011
In memory of Hannah Clarke, wife of Thos.Clarke, who died Octr 14th, 1787,
aged 54 years.  Also Elizth Russell, her mother, who died Feby.28th, 1758,
  aged 80 years.

Hope this one is also of use to you

Happy Boxing Day  No Chris that's too much I was hoping it was a PDF you just send in a bundle.  I found it on google books and it was all there .  The University of Washington library in Seattle has the Sussex Archeaological Collections so I will probably make it up there.  I already have the Clarks From Chris Payne at SFHG.  Can I buy  A CD of the Rye parish Records?  Cant find that either.  Should have sent a PM so feel free to edit  Thanks LIz

Hi Liz

Yes, you are correct, the date should read 1800 - unfortunately it was a typo by myself.

Please accept my apologies for that

Hi Liz,

Just noticed this thread after replying to the message you left on mine about Robert Clark(e). This could get confusing - both called Liz!!

I found a couple of burials in Rye Cemetery which are a bit after your time but very likely might be connected.

Margaret Clark (nee Staffell) - 02.09.1884  NonComM
&
Thomas Staffell Clark - 05.07.1883  NonComM

Best wishes
Liz

Hi again Liz

Attached to this should be a map of the churchyard drawn at the same time as the transcriptions were done in 1861.

CLARK and STAFFELL are in section A(West of Church adjoing Custom House Street)

Also burials ceased (unless it was a family plot) in 1854:

Extract from an order of Privvy Council, of 29th March 1854
"Rye, Sussex - Burials to be wholly discontinued from and after the first of June, one thousand eight hundred and fifty four, in the burial-grounds of St Marys Church, and of the Baptist Chapel; and to cease at once under St Marys Church"
