Anketell Grove records and Favor Royal!! COMPLETED

Can anyone tell me where the estate records for Anketell Grove, Emyvale and Favor Royal can be found please?

Have contacted NLI but they do not know where to locate them.


Will  also need Fort Singleton, Moore, Castlecaulfield, Charlemont, Dawson, Coote and Moutray Estate Records. My lot sure got around!!

Anketell family and Moutray seem to be hard to pin down.

The name Anketell is found in the Counties of Monaghan, Down, Kerry and a few in Cork.
The name Moutray is found in Counties Monaghan, Armagh and Tyrone.

Emyvale is in Co. Monaghan, Civil Parish and the R.C Parish of Donagh. Records are held in Monaghan Ancestry and NLI.

The NLI have a book titled " A Short History of the Family name Anketell", Ir 929 a 6 refers.

I did come across 18 Anketell Moutray's from Co. Monaghan and Co. Tyrone.

At a short glance I could not find any of the other places you are seeking, however I do find the name of Aketell Moutray somewhat interesting.

A number of the names you mentioned  can be seen on a will search  and Armagh Registry is mentioned on several of them.

It would be Emyvale, Co Monaghan. I need the estate records rather than Anketell records to see names of tenants etc.

The Anketells and Moutrys are intermarried so it would be the actual estate records that I'm looking for, my ggg/uncle was a Rent Collector on the estate, another worked in Favor Royal, another on Dawson Estate, another Castlecaulfield, etc..I just need to get a year for when my family arrived in Anketell Grove and get the names of those that arrived there. NLI don't have the Estate Records.

I have the full line of two brothers who were there but there were other brothers in the family, they were only children when they arrived there so it would be great to get their parent's names!

The little I know of the Anketells seems "colourful"!

Thanks Sio, there is plenty on the Anketells etc but my family were tenants.

From what I can gather my family arrived there circa 1855 incl 12 sons and I have the full line of 2 of these children. I do not have the names of their parents who were evicted from a Tyrone estate so can't trace them any further at present.

A will search on PRONI gives me a big list of names but are no use until I get these names from the Estate records.

on the main proni page there is a search option,type in the name of the estate and see what comes up. i tried favor royal,which i had never heard of,and it came back with info about the leslie's.

some proni estate records have rent books and the like so that would help you.

The difficult bit is trying to find which estate to look for them....All I can do it try to find when they arrived in Anketell Grove and then look at estate record after estate record for them..they could have been evicted from anywhere!

My great grandmother was an Anketell born in Emyvale, does anyone know exactly where Anketell Grove is? I was there back in 1999 as a teenage but can't find its position on google maps.
