1861 Census - Roberton
« on: Monday 07 February 05 19:49 GMT (UK) »
First time on the Scotland pages so please excuse my ignorance.

Is information available for the 1861 census for Roberton, Selkirk? I am trying to trace my gt. grandfather who was brought up in the area.

I'll wait to hear,

Thanks Ian

If anyone can help I am looking for David Eckford or Gillies b.1860, living with James (aged 30?) and Eliza Wood Eckford in Roberton.

David might be listed as nephew or son of James.

Thanks again

Ian

Hi,
Not sure wether this is any help or not. I have 1851 for the parish of Selkirkshire in Selkirk and there are 2 Eckford surnames living. They are  Jane Eckford aged 75 and William Eckford aged 20 both living in the same house. They probably aren't related but you never know, Roberton isn't that far away.
