look up durham please

Hi, i am totally stuck ,i am looking for more information , i know my gr aunt  was born in 1890 in stockton on tees,
she is polly smithson, she married ted maclean "dont know if ted is his full forname" where she married and when i cannot find, i cannot find her on 1901 census either , i have looked at everything i can think of but cannot find any record of her other than her birth, she lived until about the 1960s early70s , i would like information on her marraige and her children , i just cant find her at all,
could anyone please look this up for me,

Hello dippy2, If you look in www.freeBMD it shows that your Polly's actual name WAS Polly Smithson b. Sept Qtr 1890 in Stockton dist., Co. Durham!  She married FREDERICK McLean March Qtr 1912, also in Stockton dist.  You can also look for their children on this website!  I'll let you have fun with that.    If you need help - give a holler!  Merry Christmas!  Pat

Hello dippy.2, To find children born after 1913 you can enter the Father's last name and the Mother's last name and you will get a listing of those already in the freeBMD index....you may need to sort out a few and, also, they may not all be listed at this time as that index is not totally completed.  Another option is the pay sites which are complete. On freebmd any births for children after Sept 1911 show mothers' maiden names

So if you type McLean in the surname box and Smithson in the mother's surname box, leave the forename boxes empty, and you could also put a start date of 1912, up will come all the children born with that surname and that mother's maiden name.  I think Pat thought you'd enjoy finding those yourself. To see the images on the 1901 census pages you need to have a subscription to Ancestry, or you can go to the census website and pay to view the image there www.1901censusonline.com - you can either view the household transcript or the actual image - the details I gave are what appears on the page

I still don't know where Polly was in 1901, so am not that clever!

Hello again dippy.2 and Barbara, It looks you should be able to find 6 children listed to this family...aso, don't forget to check for any infant deaths, if your oral information differs from this count. Pat
