hill family, dunbar

hello all, some time ago due to my ignorance i posted for help for a joseph hill in dunbartonshire, when actualy it should have been DUNBAR east lothian, my appologies, but if anyone could help i am looking for joseph hill born 1814 dunbar he married an elizabeth ?. later his occupation was customs officer and stationed at southampton, i am trying to get any info on him and his parents in dunbar scotland, any info would be greatfully recieved, kali.

There are only two Hill families in Dunbar around the time you are looking for. On Scotlandspeople, there is a birth of a James Hill to a James Hill and Helen Cawsey in 1810. There is also a birth of a William Hill to another James Hill and Elizabeth Aitchison.

In 1841, there are 4 Hill families in Dunbar, both burgh and landward. They are headed by:

1. Isabella Hill, f, 60, independent, b. Scotland
2. Samuel Hill, m, 55, labourer, b. England
3. Janet Hill, f, 45, pauper, b. East Lothian
4. John Hill, m, 60, labourer, b. East Lothian
