Wonder if she came to Australia alone? Wouldn't that be highly unlikely too? A young woman by herself at that time.

Yes  lots of young woman came alone to Australia, I  am  checking to see IF I  can find her on  the 1881 census in England

Did you  get her parents names from a certificate?

No, I found them on the census.

I looked up the Australian Newspapers online, thinking that ANGWIN was an unusual name.  However to my surprise there were 1022 instances found.

Go to the "About Us" to see the range of newspapers covered (between 1803 and 1954) and don't forget that in the early days especially, articles were copied from one newspaper to another so you may things about towns many miles away from where the paper was published.

mary is on  the 1871 census listed as Mary J.Penzance, Cornwall England. The marriage certificate for Mary Johns and Charles Marshall, lists her parents as John Angwin and Jane Symons. I have their marriage certificate too. It's in 1855 penzance Cornwall, England.
