Strange opening !
« on: Wednesday 07 January 09 12:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
This is the screen that faced me this morning when I started my computer.  Last night I downloaded IE7 as recommended would that have anything to do with it?

I pressed F1 and it seems OK.

I hope this isn't too big - too small!

Any advice appreciated,
Regards,
Abiam

very neat way to capture the error screen !

If it happens again, look at the Power Management reference ....

I'd be surprised if IE7 was involved - thats the BIOS screen, documenting whats its found before bootstrapping in Windows ...

Abiam, try pressing DEL, then don't change anything in there, just hit escape and choose "Save and Exit" (or you might need to press F10).  If it happens every time you boot, the little battery on your computer motherboard may need replacing.  They usually last about 6 to 10 years.  The battery is usually one of the CR2032 button cells.

Thank you both,
I shall print your replies so that I can see what to do if it happens again.  Hopefully it won't,

Going by the date on the BIOS copyright, I think it might !  :)

We kept getting that message a couple of months ago. I posted on here to ask what it was and was told it probably was the battery that needed changing. It was!  ;D Got a new battery and a two minute job later it was fine.
