Can anyone help me please, i have been trying for months to track down a birth for  a James William Derry, could you look him up for me please,

James William Derry, born abt 1852 in lincolnshire.

Obviously can't tell you the exact date  but what more do you want?

Yes, I do appreciate that but you said you wanted to find his parents and now you have them

To find his birth reference you need to search on www.1837online.com and you can also order it from there.It is a pay to view site

Alternatively write to the registry Office in Spalding giving name, year of birth and area i.e. Spalding. Either way it will cost £7 for the certificate.

The birth reference is not recorded anywhere else that I can see.

On freeBMD there are the following between 1850 and 1854 for males born in Lincolnshire

Thomas Derry Sept 1852 Newark 7b 252
Male Derry Mar 1853 Newark 7b 274
Ernest Edward Derry Mar 1853 Holbeach 7a ?

From my experience, some people were registered under different names from the names they became known by!
Also, did you check out the Male Derry above?
They may not have agreed a name in time to register his birth.

Often you have to look at names different to the ones you have to find birth records!

The only other option if you are not willing to chance on any of the above is 1837online I'm afreaid but it is pay to view.
