May 5 1788 John Badcock of Shrivenham to Charlotte Whitehorn of Goosey

  In Hatford a marriage

27 Apr 1684 William Badcocke to Rebeccah Welliface

  In Compton Beauchamp a marriage

Hi Sue - I am sure they will fit somewhere   ;D

I have been looking further at the Stanton Harcourt lot

there are burials

1771 Richard Badcock
1772 John Badcock infant
1776 Joseph Badcock
1777 Mary Badcock

I think the 1777 Mary is Richrads wife as in 1778

marriage Oct 10th
Richard Badcock wdwr otp to Hannah Collins sp of Marcham
witnesses Elizabeth Badcock & Thomas Badcock  by lic

then it seems Hannah must have died - but I can't see a burial for her

marriage 1783 Jan 23
Richard Badcock wdwr otp to Lois Tooley sp otp
witnessed Mary Tooley & Richard Tooley  by lic

That's great Sue (not sure where they fit in yet)  :)

I think I have found the direct line though,  I thought that Joses & Mary Badcock that married were most likely related,  I have found -

A marriage In Oxford St Johns College in 1730 Oct 8th
Joseph Badcock of Wooten Berks to Elizabeth Greenaway of Kennington

Then a baptism at Besslesleigh
1731 July 11th John s/o Joseph & Elizabeth Badcock of Sandford St Helens Abingdon

Then some more baptisms from St Helens Abingdon for the children of Joseph & Elizabeth  Badcock - farmer of Sandford

1734 Elizabeth
1740 Thomas
1743 Richard
1745 Elizabeth
1749 Mary

So it looks as though John (married to Susannah Nobes) and father of Joses (b 1771) and Richard (married to Mary Kimber) and father of Mary (b 1769) were in fact brothers and they were cousins

I have now checked the marriage of Joseph & Elizabeth on the St Johns Coll transcripts but it doesn't give any further info,  however he was given of Wooten,  there is only one baptism for a Joseph Badcock at Wooten in the right sort of time frame (though there are others in nearby areas)

1704 Joseph s/o Joseph & Jane Badcock
- they also had a daughter Jane in 1702,  but I can't see any other children for them.

Joseph Badcock of Wooten married Jane Harding of Wooten 3rd Oct 1700 in South Hinksey

Burials from Wooten

1750 Mary d/o Joseph & Elizabeth Badcock
1753 Jane wife of Joseph Badcock
1762 Joseph Badcock
.
.
1773 Joseph Badcock of Marcham
1776 Elizabeth Badcock widow of Joseph of Marcham

Looks possible/likely

Ohh nice find Galium

It is very likely the John born 1766 (son of John & Susan nee nobes) is the one who married Charlotte Whitehorn then and those are their children, and her remarriage after his death

From Besslesleigh where John & Elizabeth (nee Greenaway) had their son John baptised in 1731

baptisms
1666 Edward s/o William & Margaret Badcock
1670 Joseph s/o William & Maragert Badcock

--- but to put the cat among the pigeons a marriage

1730 of Joseph Badcock to Mary Badcock by lic

I did say there were other Josephs in the area  :-\
