Alfred Ernest Hardy

Anyone out there related to Alfred Ernest Hardy? He was my Great grandfather born somewhere around 1855-1865. He married Emma Jane Mundy/Munday in 1884 and had 4 children Alfred Ernest 1887 born in Limehouse, Mabel Lilian 1887 West Ham, Horace Leonard 1890 West Ham and Violet 1895 West Ham.
Alfred Ernest Snr died in 1938 in East Ham. He was a millwright  and there is some suggestion that he may have had a conection with a shoe making family and some other suggestion that he had a brother working as an engineer at Nottingham water works.
I have traced some of his grand children but they do not know or cannot remember much about him - and there are no good leads to his birth -  he gives his father's name on his marriage certificate as William and states he is deceased. The only census I can find him on is 1901 and his birth place is given as London - but not been able to verify that.
Would be good to hear from anyone with interest in this family name.:-X
