1911 Census Result
« on: Monday 12 January 09 21:55 GMT (UK) »
Yippee,

The 1911 census is now back on line, but still a few counties to transcribe - but Nottinghamshire is there.

Just found my Father aged 3 in Toton, Notts (born Basford) together with his brother Robert (born Ilkeston)and his mum and dad - but oh dear, they have told a few lies on the census form.

Grandad (born Southwell) left his wife Sarah Smith and co-habited with my grandmother Charlotte Emma (born Bramcote); but according to the census form they have been married for 18 Years

Also according to the census form they have had 6 children, four of which have lived and 2 died - not so, together they had 3 children and one of which was run over by a horse and cart whilst out with his dad and subsequently died in Nottingham General Hospital in 1907.

Grandad meanwhile had given his proper wife Sara Ann some 10 children, 2 of which had died shortly after birth - so somewhere the figures just dont add up.
Its great to see Grandads signature though.

Incidentally his first wife Sara Ann (born Farnsfield) describes herself as a Widow ???

Interesting to say the least

I managed to get onto the 1911 census and like chris was also surprised at what I found out. I have been looking in Nottingham for her because she had a baby there in 1912, but found her working as a cook in Wath with the father of her child working as a barman in the same hotel. have I had a good day.

Hi

If anyone is looking for Sutton Bonnington Ancestors  on the 1911 census - they have been classified as in Loughborough, Leics, not as in Nottinghamshire where they should be.

It took me a while to find my grandmother (Annie May Hardy) then aged 15 and her family in Sutton Bonnington where they were all born, because they were under Loughborough.

Annie May Hardy

Hi Chris,

I'm hoping you can help me, Annie May Hardy was my great grandmother, the mother of my grandfather Frederick William Wilson.

I've been studying my fathers side of the family for a while now but I've always struggled with getting any further back than Annie May. I know she was married/partnered to a man called Jack after Fred, Arthur, Eddie and your mother Norah were born, but prior to this all I can be certain of is that she was married to Arthur John Wilson.

I've found information on your side of the family (Swarbrooke) back to about 1842, but I've stopped at William SWARBROOKE and Charlotte Emma CARTWRIGHT to try to get more information on the Wilson side if I can. I've possibly found a connection with Annie May at Sutton Bonington with Joseph & Harriett Hardy which mentions Edna M, Gertrude I, Olive L, and Annie M living there, but the evidence is just not there to prove that this information is correct.

I found a document by chance over the weekend after searching for information about Yvette Swarbrooke, and I've just looked a little deeper and I've realised that you wrote it. Thank you, it was a very interesting read and gave me more information than I could have possibly expected in one hit!

Anyway, if you'd like to contact me then I would dearly love to talk, and gain more knowledge about our family.

With my kindest regards
Ivan Wilson
