Tracing family in Fermoy

Hi

I am going back to Cork in 3 weeks to try and trace my ancestors a little more can any body help in telling me the best places for research and finding records around Fermoy

I have got my Great Grandfather John Connell as been born in 1862 in Fermoy and my Great Great Grandmother Bridget in Killavullen in 1835. My Great Great Grandfather also John Connell was in the 1/14 Regiment of foot and was at Fermoy but don't know if this was his place of birth just have him as born Cork1862.
