I'm not sure if you're still active on this site, but I've been doing some research into George Hearse's last years and would be fascinated to find out more about him. The connection is through his second marriage, which was in 1941 to my widowed grandmother. I only found this out through my own researches as it was never mentioned when I was growing up. I wasn't even told his name!

I have had to find everything through census returns and newspaper cuttings. From what I can see he seems to have been a successful lawyer and a well regarded local figure. I also know that he died at the young age of 47 in London.

However, I'm curious to know more about him. Why did he move to London in 1945? What happened to his children? Presumably one of them is your parent. Are they still alive? When did he divorce his first wife? He was still living with her in 1939 as shown by the census, but I can't find any recorded mention of a divorce. What happened to her?

One thing I'd really like to see is a photo. Do you have any pictures of him that you could share? It would make him more real to me!

As I say I am happy to share anything I have about him. Feel free to ask any questions, but any light you can shed on his life would be greatly appreciated.

Is this the couple you are looking for? if so he didn't divorce her, it sounds like she divorced him as the decree was granted to her.
