ELI LOCKWOOD ELKINS 1909
« on: Monday 19 January 09 07:03 GMT (UK) »
Please can anyone help me pick up the trail of my second cousin Eli Lockwood Elkins?
Eli was born 23 December 1909 at 17 Chapel St Selkirk, his father Jeremiah Elkins 1884 was English (Wrecclesham Surrey) and was killed in 1917 seving with the KOSB's.  Mother was Mary Maxwell Keith ne Rodger 1879.
The birth document is all I have concerning Eli and the only passing reference to Mary is her name in Jeremiahs Soldier's Will.
Thank You
Norman

Hi Norman

I see no sign of a death for Eli Elkins on Scotlands People, so he has either lived to the ripe old age of 99 or died elsewhere. If he is still living you should not post his personal details.

I have found his parents marriage on SP, by narrowing down the search parameters I found Jeremiah Elkins and Mary Rodger married in Selkirk in 1909. If you want to know more about Mary the marriage certificate should give her parents names and fathers occupation amongst other things. The 1901 census could also give you a bit more information about the family I would imagine.

What other information are you interested in finding about this part of your family?

Norman, Not sure if you already have this but:
1901 census
Jeremiah Elkins age 19, single, private, born Bourne SUrrey
is at Aldershot Hampshire with loads of other military types - looks like a baracks or training establishment.
Rg13/613/171/10

Can't easily see Mary in 1901.  :-\
