Accessing 1861 census for Surrey
« on: Friday 11 February 05 00:13 GMT (UK) »
Could anyone suggest how I can get to view a copy of this census for Lambeth? I have made several postings attempting to locate a family of Adamsons in Lambeth, but as I don't have an address (have them for 1852 and 1865), no-one has been able to easily look them up for me. I am in Wellington, New Zealand so can't readily travel to London or Surrey archives.

Hi Carole

You can view films at your local LDS Family History Centre - see http://www.familysearch.org for locations.  It is only a relatively small charge to order a film though there will probably be several covering the Lambeth area in 1861.  See the Family History Library Catalogue on the aforementioned site for what may be available or enquire at the centre.

Best wishes

Thank you for that - of course! Have accessed parish records but hadn't explored the census option. Appreciate that.

If you've not found what you are looking for yet, the 1861 census for Surrey has just gone online at www.1837online.com

I had a quick look and there are 31 Adamson entries when a search is made with Lambeth as the keyword.

That's wonderful, thanks so much, I hadn't caught up with that development.
