Hi
I have Merritts in my family who were born in Bishop's Canning / All Canning.  Simon Merritt who married Ann Drew in 1850.  Does this fit into your tree?  They had a son, George b. 1854, but he married Eliza Caines, so I don't think this is who you are after.

I have a few Merretts in my wife's tree, if they're any use to you.
Martha b.11/12/1775, d.7/5/1822, she married Robert Carpenter at AC.
Her parents were Thomas 1748/1819 who married Elizabeth Willis 1744/1813.
They had another daughter Sarah b. 1774.
Thomas' parents were Michael 1723 BC/1795 AC and Martha ? d.1799.
Their children were Joseph 1745/1772 AC; Michael 1748/1819 AC; John 1756/1828 AC;
Sarah ? AC; Martha ? AC;
Finally Michael's parents were Joseph and Sarah, but I don't have any information on these.
I hope some of this information may be of some help.

I was just looking through the birth records for All Cannings and I came across this entry.
Merrett - George Ball - mother Sophia - no father recorded - date  1 Oct 1859.
Had you seen this one previously?

Hi Ken,
When I first replied I was only just starting my research and I got into a mess with the Merrett's and only just starting to revisit. My cousin has gone there very deeply and I will ask her.

George Merrett was my great grandfather, born 1859. He had 10 children, one of which was Bertie Charles Merrett, my grandfather. Bertie had 11 children, one of whom was my mother Beatrice Olive Merrett.

My aunt, Sheila Merrett, told me that George Merrett was born illegitimate. This was told to her by her father, Bertie Merrett, who was George Merretts father, my great grandfather.
