Mival Family
« on: Wednesday 28 January 09 16:47 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for a marriage record of a William Mival, originally born 1791 Abberley Worcs, who married an Elizabeth in Radnorshire, Possibly Kinnerton as the first 3 children were born there, the first in 1821 (Also William) The 4th to 9th Children were born in Old Radnor, the first of those (Charles) in 1829 and the last (as far as I know) in 1840

I am trying to find the surname of Williams wife Elizabeth, born c1796 in Old Radnor. Elizabeth and William are my wifes, 3rd Great Grand Parents.

Many Thanks

Hello Tom
Well I have some good news and a bit of bad news
On Ancestry they have a database called Radnorshire Marriages 1813 to 1831, 1835

The good news is that the marriage is listed between

William Mivel ( the spelling on the database) to Elizabeth Burch on 20th December- however the year is not shown (thats the bad news) in the parish of Old Radnor. Marriage was by Banns.

I have looked and looked and cannot see the year given. It's quite crazy. Maybe another Rootschatter can see the year on this database.

I cannot recall if the registers for Old Radnor are at the National Library of Wales. I have a strong feeling they are in Hereford County Record Office. I recall them being very helpful there- maybe they will do a look up for you. As the first child was born around 1821 -it narrows the dates down a bit.

I am really sorry to only provide half the information

Best wishes

Sue

Thanks for getting in touch. Lets hope we can help each other out!

I have the husband of Elizabeth Burch as William Mival, born 1791 in Abberley, Worcestershire. He is my 3x Great Grand Father. It would be great if you have any further details about William and his ancestors, as I have hit a brick wall.
I know he and Elizabeth were married in Radnorshire and the family drifted into Herefordshire.

I look forward to hearing from you
Regards
Tom

Hi Tom and any other Mival descendants, I have a copy of the Mival family tree going back to just one William Mival in the 18th century. If any of you need any information, I will be happy to share it. Incidentally, my uncle Raymond Arthur Mival aged 92 is the last living Mival in Herefordshire and I believe Powys.  Regards.  Marilyn.
