LONGHURST - Jersey
« on: Friday 11 February 05 15:53 GMT (UK) »
My mother has a letter from her cousin EDWARD LONGHURST dated 1946 after he had been repatriated to the Channel Islands at the end of WW2 from a labour camp.
The main branch of the Longhurst family were from Kent.
I am afraid I know very little about Edward, but if anyone has come across the name please let me know.

Thank you,  Alan

Alan,
In reply to your  post, my search for Edward has not been sucessful up to now, but I did find details of an Emily Walker nee Longhurst  dob 31/3/1874 in the registration papers of the occupation forces.  Might this be a relative of Edwards.

Let me know if you have any further details  and I will  be happy to look again.

Thank you for the research Scatty, and I am sorry that I have not been able to come back to you sooner.

I have found out this week that an Emily L Longhurst married George G Walker in East Ashford in Kent in the Sept 1/4 of 1910. They could well have moved to Jersey.

My problem now is to find out which Emily.  There were two, both born in 1873, who were the daughters of two brothers.  (They also named their sons Frederick )

You have certainly given me something to look into.  Thanks Again
