Xstitcher,

What do you know so far? Where have you looked and what are you looking for?

You'll find lots of Rootschatters willing to help but we need a little more to go on.  ???

Since you give his D.O.B. and wife's maiden name and year of marriage can we assume that you have his marriage certificate and you have found him in one or more censuses?

Hi xstitcher,

There are actually several baptisms for William Cope/Coupe in Notts around that time. Of course it could be any or none of them! I can give you a list for future reference if you like.

I really think in this case there are no shortcuts and you are going to have to purchase certificates :) The cert for the second marriage should tell you his fathers name and occupation and maybe help you to narrow down his age a little too. The birth certificate of one of the earlier children will tell you his first wife's name and make it easier to find the marriage. Much better than guesswork!
