I had a possible ancestor who died in Doncaster in 1837. He was a former Paymaster and Lieutenant of the East Yorks Militia and I'm guessing that such a guy must have left a will.

Has anybody any tips or information on how to go about getting a copy of it, if there is one? I've looked on the net and seen websites where you can pay to have searches done to see if a pre-1858 will exists. If I've got to shell out, so be it, but before I do so I wanted to see whether fellow Rootschatters could give me any good advice.
