Date Please for my Gt Papa
« on: Saturday 07 February 09 23:46 GMT (UK) »
As it says, can anyone shed a light on when this was taken. As Ive just scanned it in and looked at it with my Mum and we think the lady on the left may be my G.G. Granny Elzabeth Cochrane.... IF the dates fit as she died in 1924.

Its a tiny little faded torn papery feeling photo, but when we blew it up it was amazing to see everyones faces. I'm hoping I can fit the other ladies in and children as sibligs/ grandchildren.

We think it was taken at Hawick Common riding.

Thanks in advance.

Tx

Hi sparkle...can't see much but those hats look like late teens/early 20s...not high fashion but everyday hats, and they still had elements of the cloche style. Overall look of the photo is about the same. Definitely post 1913/1914.

My opinion, and you may get others...

Thanks for the restore Xinia its really really appreciated, was lovely to see it this morning and show my Mum who was staying for the weekend. I printed her a copy to take home with the originals. :-D

As for the date, chinakay I think you are on the money. Thank you. :)

The exciting thing is that we have figured out who all but one of the people are. I'm sure its the only picture of my G.G Granny Elizabeth Cochrane, who the little girl at the front (my Auntie Lizzy) was named after. Its also the only surviving picture of my Granny's brother Henry who died in 1922 aged six. So going on the basis that he looked about 3-4 in the picture, we believe the picture was taken in 1919 or 1920. The only unusual thing is that my Granny who would have been a baby/toddler isnt present.

Does this all sound feasible?

Thanks again!

Tx

The Lady on the left hand side of this picture is the lady at the right hand side with the wee boy on her lap.

Does anyone have an opinion if the lady at the top right hand side of the first picture could be the same lady in this picture in brown at the right hand side. My Mum thinknot, but I'm going on eyes, inc the bridge of her nose etc, and I think it could be her.

I'd really really welcome an opinion on this. Am I just guilty of wishful thinking?

Thanks
Tx
