Sunderland Echo obituary (completed)
« on: Monday 09 February 09 09:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi all

I have hit a massive brick wall bought every certificate known to man and still i'm stuck!   The only resource i have not persured is the obituaries in the local paper to find more family info.  Very kind people (you know who you are) on this site have worked with me and still we draw a blank!

I'm looking for the death of Mr Robert Wilson (no middle name) who died 26 feb 1926 at 26 Shipperdson Street, Murton, Co Durham husband of Elizabeth Ann (nee Miller) originated Cumberland (only info i have, no area) father John both miners, father of Mary J, John Thomas 'Jack',Elizabeth, Willliam, Robert (bob),Thomasina, Norman, Edward, Beatrice and Lily that i know of.

Robert was born in 1870 and died age 59 buried in Murton cemetary.

I appreciate that someone may need to go out of their way to look this up and i am happy to reinburse where necessary as it would take a full day to drive there and back before i even get to look.

My husband who is originally from Murton assures me it would be under the Sunderland Echo at that time.

Any help much appreciated.

Hello khrissy

I can't help you with the obituary look-up I'm afraid, but I hope you don't mind if, for the benefit of other people looking at this post, I add this link to your previous thread on the subject of Robert Wilson.

khrissy, as you have one exact death date maybe  you could get lucky on RAOGK and find a volunteer who'd do a lookup in the paper...

sorry can't be more helpful...but I'm nowhere near the newspapers archives...

Hi

I'm usually asking for advice not giving it so don't want to build any hopes up here, but while looking on Durham Records online I did a check and came up with these under burials both in Easington Robert Wilson  born abt 1867  died 1926   Robert Wilson  born abt 1867 died 1927, don't know if Easington is near Murton but as you said he was 59 when he died in 1926 I was working on him being born around 1866/67, I know they don't charge a great deal for looking at records if you are interested.

Does this mean anything to you ? I found it under marriages
Marriages Easington Robert Wilson  1946  birthplace Murton

Best of luck

Julie

Julie your a star.  Easington is very walkable from Murton i have credits left from Durham records but was unsure re these records because his marriage cert and census have D.o.B as 1870 but i will indeed take a look.

Thanks all

There are 3 cemetaries in Easington (one a churchyard unused in years)
I live a stones throw from one of them. I can go and look if you like, I'll go when the groundsman is there, he'll be able to check his records of which cemetary. If there's a head stone I'll get you a pic.

Forgot to say there is an Easington Lane between Easington and murton. There is a cemetary there. If he was living at Murton, chances are he'll be buried there.
