Hi John

You could try putting this under your avatar:

Not sure if it would work - not tried it in that position but it's worth a try  :)

smart thinking Gadget,

i am sure that that would be better, long term.

John,

if you look at the bottom of the page there is a shrink link option, so if you copy the link and paste it in the, slot, then hit the shrink link option, it will give you a smaller version of the same thing.

if you get stuck, shout and i will help you out or, if you look at the beginners section,  there is a thread about it. which gives you chapter and verse.

hope you approve of that Gadget, don't want to step on your toes. ???

No one needs my approval,  Rabbit  ;D ;D

I've just put the link under my avatar to see if it works!

It would mean copying it and then pasting into the address bar to get it to work.

Gadget

added - the shrink link is :

Another add-on  - it might be worth John considering putting a small note in the signature part of his profile (where the surnames, etc. go) asking whether anyone knows the person in his avatar and put the shrink link there. That would give a direct link if it was clicked on  :)

hi, I am making a mess of this so i will wait till i can get my daughter to have a look at it.thanks, john.

hi john,

Gadget has kindly shortened that link for us, but if you want to have a go yourself.  heres how i do it.

1] click on the http bar at the top of the page, it will then go blue.
2] right click your mouse button and you get the options to copy cut etc, or go to edit and do it that way.
3] look at the bottom of the page, there are various things in blue with brackets round. one of them is [shrink link] click on that and another page opens.
paste your link into the box and click shrink link button.
it has done it for you.  then copy the shrunken link into your clipboard by highlighting and right clicking as before.

4] then close the page. don't panic [i did] and think you have lost everything. just scroll up the page and there is your post reply waiting for you..
5] paste the shrunken link into your reply and it is done, then post it.

when i copy shrunk links i always manage to copy extra bits, but you can remove those before you post it all.

you can practice all this first on a word doc if you have word. if you want to, just pretend it is an answer.  go on have a go
