Karl was born (1818) and died (1870) in Teusin.  Seeking siblings and parents for Karl.

He was married (1841) to Caroline Neuman(n); b: 1822 in Pommern and d: 1890 in Fulton Co, OH, USA.  Would like to find siblings and parents for her also.

We can help with several descendants!!

Hello I am helping a man whose mother was a GOTTSCHALK, grand daughter of Carl August b.abt. 1818 & Caroline Auguste GROSSE b. abt. 1831 who emigrated here to South Australia.
He knows nothing of their origin.
On the IGI I have found an entry for each in Pommern, Preussen.
Carl August GOTTSCHALK b. 12.12.1816 ch. 26.12.186 Sankt Marien, Stettin Stadt, Pommern, son of George Wilhem GOTTSCHALK & Johanna Maria MARX,
and
Caroline August GROSS b. 19.5.1831 Alt Storkow, Pommern, daughter of Ernst Ludwig GROSS & Dorothea Henriette BLUMEN.

Are these familiar to you?

Regards,
Peggy,

Good Morning Peggy,

I am afraid we do not have a connection.  I don't have anything else in that area, except what I spelled out.  Info from there is hard to come by.  We even tried to hire someone, but that didn't work, as they would only do the part of Pommern that is now in Poland.

Good Luck, if you find a source, let me know.........Please!!!

Have a good one.................Bob

Thanks anyway Bob.
I got lucky yesterday after trawling through what seemed like endless German passenger lists & found Caroline Auguste GROSS in 1848 with her parents George GROSSE & Charlotte LORENZ from Andreasberg - not the ones in the IGI record. Think I'll call it quits at that...
Cheerio, Peggy

According to this web site (http://www.genealoger.com/german/pommern/kreis%20church%20records/stralsund.htm) Teusin (evangelisch/protestant)  was filmed by the Mormons.

I had no luck to access the site, perhaps you have more luck. Is it still possible to order the films?

Good luck Peonie

Peonie,

I was able to navigate the site, but the links to the microfilm must be broken.  You can get there by going to the familysearch.org/Europe/ and finding the site you would like to go to.  If you can't read German (& old script) you will have a lot of fun.  I have downloaded many a page, by surname, but still don't know what they say as I haven't took the time analyze them, as I am slower than molasses in January on the interpretations.

Good luck!! Have a great day!!

Bob

Hi Peggy
My mother born Joyce Cecilia Gottschalk (1927-2018) is the Great Grandaughter of Carl August Gottschalk who married Caroline Augusta Crosze in 1851 in Klemzig Adelaide South Australia. Caroline Crosze came from Bremen 2/4/1849 via Melbourne to Adelaide with her parents George Crosze (Grosse) and Charlotte Lorenze.
I have been trying to find when the Gottschalk line arrived in Australia.
**I do hope someone can help me???

(I have our direct family line from Carl August Gottschalk down to my mother).

Dianne Spiers (daughter of Joyce Gottschalk)

I have been trying to find when the Gottschalk line arrived in Australia.

August Gottschalk's Aug 1884 hospital entry mentions that he has spent 35 years in the colony: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS6D-8SNZ-4?i=278 (#1454)

And, his final hospital stay in Jul 1885 mentions that he has spent 35 years in the colony, but also that he arrived on the ship “Livonia”: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS6D-8SN3-V?i=319 (#1206)

FYI a possible arrival for the Livonia: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/38444307
(Unfortunately there does not seem to be a list of her passengers)
