Hello Jacqui,

Are you acquainted with the Danish censuses on www.dda.dda.dk?

You might find him with his parents. I found a 4-year-old Peter Julius Jensen (b. in Copenhagen) with his parents Jens and Ane Marie.

You could try with the occupation mariner (= sømand).

Justin

Thank you for looking for me and what census did you find the 4yr old on as Peter was born about 1845.I know that he was estimated as being 46 when he died in 1888.
Thanks again.

Jacqui,

Sorry, it was the 1850 census.

Are you certain that his middle name was Julius?

Presumably, his father's name comes from a marriage cert.

Justin

Hi Justin.
Yes his mddle name was definately Julius. It was on his marriage cert to susannah Hatt.
Although he names Peter julius jensen as his father it also states he was deceasd  so my peter could of been illegitimate and put down his own name as his father. It wasn't unheard of .

Hi Justin.
I have had a look at some letters that Peter sent Susannah before they married and there is a reference to a " Madam Jensen Thoiguard ?"I don't know if that is the correct spelling as it's not that clear on the letter. There is a dot above the o and the i.

Hello Jacqui,

Can you scan that section of the letter and post it here?

My 'Danish' ancestors were from the German-speaking Duchy of Hostein, which was later annexed by the Prussians. My knowledge of Danish ancestry is, therefore, very limited.
