Rootschat.....a fantastic site.  I have been helped with family research as well as computer problems.  People from across the world have looked up newspaper articles, a RC member in USA transcribed a Will for me.
All with much appreciation from me.
Thank you all.

Oh my, yes! Two new friends immediately dated my old metal plate studio portrait from the clothing worn by the people. And as well, one of those friends is working to try to improve the very black image and the considerable damage to the image. Thank you, thank you.

Be ready to be amazed, Barb. When I first joined i put up four tin types. They were just strange little photos to me, but the lovely people on Roots soon had them improved so that I could see them clearly.
I do the 'magic' myself now and sometimes drop in to do a colour and restore.
Hope your photo comes up looking like new. It can happen.

Really helpful...I am a newbie and already finding out fascinating information...so interesting to read the posts. Had a bit of a false start with someone being let's just say not the nicest, but moderator helped with that. Just reading all the help files trying manoeuvre round.

Well it already has been a great help. I came across a thread on here that described my great grandparents and their children. And how they made a journey back in the mid 1800s and also how a mystery around two female family members was resolved.......all amazing to me, an interested relative.

I found roots chat by googling one of ancestors out of curiosity thinking there's too many similar names, only to find someone here looking for exactly the same information!

I'm caught between feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information and over excited by what i might discover!
