I think the time has come for you to instal a Family History program if you have not already done so, it would help you to order your information, and might even highlight some things you had missed. May I suggest Legacy 7, free version, if you like it you can then download the paid for version.

Almost certainly yes, as I'm not researching my own roots, but trying to trace individual British soldiers who served in Italy in 1944.

Recently found a cousin whose added some information, which has raised questions in my head.  How can children being of similar age have two completely different names and be called half brothers and sisters.
Florence Ann Hinchelwood died in the USA and was half sister to Alexander Smith in Lanark 1870's/1880's .Their parents were still married to each other, no divorce, no death.
Unless one of them had a sibling and the childrens parent died and the family took them in, but then why would they have been half sister/brother and not cousin, or step-sister/brother.?  Really peculiar.

One I have come across is where a couple, both in a second marriage and had children from a first marraige - his, hers and theirs scenario

His first marriage children and her first marriage children were absolutely no relation to each other but they were described as half siblings
They were however half siblings to the children of the second marriage!
