Further information, on the 1939 register she is a mental nurse at Cane Hill Hospital, Coulsdon, Surrey.

If your aunt was AMS then she is on the electoral registers at Cane Hill Mental Hospital, Coulsdon, from 1928. So around when she hit 30. They are not going to help with her going back to 1919 though.
Apparently Cane Hill did have an E ward (male patients?) but I don't know what it looked like from the outside (or the inside!)

I didn't say it was the same place, I said Cane Hill may have had an E ward.
Your latest photo is obviously of the main entrance, not a ward block.

Croydon Archives appears to have staff records for Crane Hill from 1891 to 1971.
