need help with handwriting please, *completed, thank you*
« on: Sunday 22 February 09 13:22 GMT (UK) »
hi all,

sorry for the trouble again, but I do have real difficulty reading some of this handwriting.

I can see Lincolnshire and Bedfordshire in the image, but nothing else! Please help.

Thank you.

Ahmed

I think the first one is Lincolnshire Banson then some kind of alteration was made and Barkston is written in the disability column.  :)
The others are proving more difficult. The enumerator certainly had problems with place names.

It's always worth checking here to try to identify placenames:

Wyba(o)ston (with a ?, so obviously someone is questioning this)
R(B)-tenhi(a)ll

Can't make much sense of them and of course the thick line across the names doesn't help ....  :-\

I think the bottom one might be Pertenhall - I've been searching on the OS Maps

Nothing remotely like the middle one on the maps or here:

Do you have the family on any other censuses?

The middle one is Wyboston. It's right by the A1 in Bedfordshire

Strange that that one is not in the Gazeteer but Pertenhall is!

My knowledge of Bedfordshire is one of travelling through by road or rail but never stopping   :)
