B.C. VOTERS LIST 1898 has this entry   Ashby, Hugh Gibson    res: Kaslo    occ:Agent     Dist: KWS
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~canbc/vote1898/votean.htm

Henrietta's death not noted but one for a Henrietta Emma Ashby- age 67 - May 8th 1980 New Westminster
which would have to have been a spinster if their offspring...

Would you like someone to look into the death information for Hugh Gibsone Ashby?

Not quite sure whether you mean at the entry or paying for someone to look?

Sorry

Hi Sandy,

I was at the library today doing some look ups so I quickly checked Hugh's death registration.  Here are the details:

Died at 1042 Melville Street in Vancouver (also his usual residence) of coronary stenosis and cardiac hyper...something or other, can't read the doctor's handwriting.  He was born on 23 August (my birthday!) 1868 (not my birth year! :o) in England.  He was 59yrs 3 mos and 6 days old when he died.  Occupation was Broker.  He lived in the city for 2 yrs, in the province for 38yrs and in Canada for 38yrs prior to his death.  Father was George Ashby born England, mother Helen Gibsone born Scotland.  The informant was his wife H.A. Ashby of 601 Bute Street in Vancouver.  An autopsy was performed and he was subsequently cremated.

I also checked the Henrietta Ashby death but she was not related.  She married a Mervyn Henry Ashby.  His death reg did not list any parents but his date of birth was 6 Jul 1904 in England which I think rules him out as a son.

Someone else had the marriage film so I'll have to check it another day.

Hope this helps,
Lynwen
