That was a great picture of a corn farmer. I am trying to establish, would a corn farmer have been relatively rich?

Thank you.

Ahmed

Depends if he owned the farm Ahmed or just worked there LOL  ;D

lol, he did own the farm, I'll post more details later, I am late for work - not sure if my boss would accept me being late because I was researching a corn farmer!!!

Sorry

Doesn't look like Dunholme.  as there seems to be an "i" toward the end if the word.

Having said that Welton is the next village, go it is likely.

Where was the census taken?  If you give us the number, we have a better chance of comparing the writing.

I saw that dot too Wendy  ;) but wondered if it belongs to the line above, and as you say without being able to see the whole page we can't tell.

So when you get to work Ahmed(hope you're not too late!) let us know the ref numbers please.

Carol

Hi Wendy and Carol

I agree it is difficult without seeing the rest of the page. However the writing is pretty clear compared to some. I make it out as Dunleoline. I am wondering if it isn't an actual place name but the name of a building. I also am intrigued as to what other the census state for this person.

Thank you all,

It is very likely to be Dunholme, as said earlier, the very close proximity to Welton makes me sure it is that.
This was from the 1901 census for Kettering, for John Stevenson's household.
Reference: RG 13/1447

I have another image, can someone please tell me what it says? John Stevenson used to be a corn farmer in a previous census.

Thank you.

Ahmed

Hi

I tend to agree about Dunholme now. I noticed on the 1891 census Eleanor was down as born Welton.

The last image I see Corn Factor and Dealer in ? I cannot at the moment make that out.
