Kinghorn ~ Ednam ~ Roxburgh
« on: Thursday 26 February 09 05:45 GMT (UK) »
In the 1851 Census I find Alexander Kinghorn aged 70 along with 2 daughters Euphemia aged 20 and Jessie aged 18, along with these their are 3 Grand-daughters Euphemia aged 12  (to old to be a daughter of Jessie or Euphemia) also Barbara aged 7 and Agnes aged 2.

Can anyone help me with finding the parents for these 3 grandchildren?

Thanking you all in advance
Christine

Barbara Kinghorn I have just found on family search with a marriage to a Andrew Hermiston on 22 MAY 1868   Fogo, Berwick, Scotland, then I found them in the 1891 census with 5 children. Not been able to find 1871 or 1881 census for them as yet.  And still no solutions yet as to who Barbara's parents are.

Terry,

I have been in scotlands people  and have the marriage and death register for Barbara now.
On the marriage record it says that her parents where Alexander Kinghorn  and Jane Buckham, for Barbara and that she was 24 years of age and married 22 May 1868 to Andrew Hermiston who was aged 26.
I also got the death of Barbara Hermiston nee Kinghorn died 15th Feb 1930 aged 85years, parent noted as Barbara Kinghorn.
So I am thinking that Alexander and Jane had a daughter by the name of Barbara also that had a child also called Barbara, or there was a very big gap between Jessie that was born abt 1829 and Barbara in 1844.  1851 cenus lists her as a grand-daughter. 1861 she is working as a farm servant  for Robert and Isabella Lamb. Not been able to find any birth record for her.

More and more confussing.... :)
