I have recently found two Newark estates of my ancestors which have a very long time between the date of death and the estate being settled.  Can anyone think of a good reason why this should have happened as the amounts involved are quite small?

1) Date of death was April 22nd 1880,  settled Dec 16 th 1925.
     Value 144 - 11s - 9d.  Admon to widowed sister.

2) Date of death was April 1st 1876, settled July 17th 1925.
     Value 142 - 17s - 1d.  Admon to son.

  Thanks.  NC  :)
