Wow that's fantastic, Edwards clipping says he worked at Brimsley Colliery for 48 years and at the time of his death he had been transfered to Mooregreen.

It also says he was to be buried at General Cemetery at Eastwood. Not sure if that helps.  ;)

It would be the eastwood and Kimberley Advertiser -comes out on a friday! Still!

If we find their death regs I can possibly find them at the library.-at least from the october date we know that Edward's death reg should be in dec qtr -just got to find the year!!!!!!

Does it say where the interment took place - was it Eastwood cemetery???

Great -i can look for MI's for eastwood cemetery. I think that cemetery opened c 1895 and is still in use.

The collieries have all closed now -alas -and a way of life disappeared at the same time

Moorgreen I think was the last to close -we have an aerial photograph of it

Sorry not sure what "interment" is  ;D but if you mean where the service took place is says that was held at the Methodist Church Victoria Street, by the Rev. Eric T. Parr (minister).

Benjamins clipping says he was laid to rest in the churchyard at Greasley (Im guessing that isn't the same place as Edward) "the obsequies being conducted by the Viear (Rev. S. J. Galloway)."
