hi, have been researching family of john shennan b 1823 kirkcudbright scotland, found his parents names, john shennan b 1802 minigaff scotland, helen allan b 1789

would it be possible to find their marriage record, and if possible 1821 census, or 1841 census.

My grandfather, Gordon Hamilton Shennan was the son of John and Elizabeth Shennan. He was born in Carlisle. I would like to trace his brothers and sister.

Are you sure he was born in Carlisle?

This looks like his death:
Gordon Hamilton Shennan
Died age 84 in 1971 in Inverness

Makes birth year around 1887

Added:
Ancestry has him as Goodan Sherman in 1881 census.

GRO has birth as Shannon mmn Hamilton. However brothers probably as Shennan.

When you say trace - do you mean you know who they all are and just want to know marriages, children, deaths?

Saves us doing a lot of work (duplicating your's?) if you could say what other information you have.

These are the children in 1891 census, some born Scotland, some born Carlisle

Added:
Gordon and Ernest appear to be in an orphanage in Kilmalcolm in 1901.

If this is the sister that you refer to:
Jane Elizabeth Shennan  mmn Hamilton  born June quarter 1881 in Carlisle (from GRO)
she died
Deaths December quarter  1881 
Elizabeth Jane Shennan  age  0    Carlisle
(But she does not appear to be with the family in 1881)

Just putting this marriage of parents, because I looked:
In 1867 in Kelton  John Shennan and Elizabeth Hamilton.

Kelton is in Kirkcudbrightshire.

And death of Mother:
Deaths March quarter  1895     
Elizabeth Hamilton Shennan age 47 at Carlisle
