Thank you both Eadoin and Annie.

I think I'm beginning to build up a picture of how my Grandparents lived when they
arrived in Dublin, from Waterford sometime after 1911.(as there's no trace on that Census)

I never met my Grandfather, as he died quiet young in 1934, but I often visited, and stayed
at my Grandmothers house in Frascati Park, Blackrock. She did come across as someone who
was middle/upperclass, a strong minded lady, but very kindhearted.

I had planned to visit the records office, and the library in Dublin last January, however I
realized, I just didn't have enough information on what I wanted to research. Hopefully, with
the help and advice I'm having on here, I'll be able to make that visit in the late spring.

Regards, Mike.

I was born in Stella Maris Nursing Home, 17 Earlsfort Terrace in 1948. It was run by Mercy and Rogie Gaffney, who were twins and unmarried. Cora was their sister and I believe she was a pharmacist. As an adult I was friends with them for many years. They lived latterly in the Mespil Estate, Sussex Road, Dublin 4.

I omitted the elder sister, Maeve Gaffney, who also ran the Stella Maris Nursing Home. I have a photo and a small piece of video of two of the sisters.

My mother was born at 17 Earlsfort Terrace in 1933. Interesting thread. Her father was a doctor and they lived in Boostertown Avenue.

1911 census for 17 Earlsfort Terrace Dublin come under Fitzwilliam.

Nannie O'Rourke aged 41 (own money)

Bridget Reynolds age 29 servant from Tipperary
Bridget Byrne age 27 servant from Wicklow

no census in 1921 because of the troubles, might have been a electrol list you would have to ask the local council.

with the irish census at that time if you were not in the house when they called to check who was living in the house you were not put on the census.

Hi Mike. I was born in the Stella Maris Nursing on 20- March 1944 My sister was also born there on 14 Jan 1957. My mother told me that it was owned by the Gaffneys who were friends of her family. I do know of others who were born there
I still live in Dublin and am familiar with the area. I went to UCD and studied Engineering and that was on the same street.

I was born in the Stella Maris Nursing Home in Feb. 1960. Do you know is there anywhere to access birth records from this period? I am interested to find out at what time I was born?

Hi Nannie O’Rourke descendants!  I own a trunk that I bought in Scotland about 18 years ago with a brass plate with her name on... I’d love to know more about her... can anyone help?
