« on: Wednesday 16 February 05 09:36 GMT (UK) »
I'm interested in the following families in Somerset:

Dowding (Bath - possibly originally from Gloucs)
Jones (Bath)
Jennings (Weston & Bath)
Hawkins (Combe)
Harding (Bath - originally from Bristol.  Dynasty of chemists!)
Brodribb (Clutton)
Osman (???)
James (Bath)

Any connections?

Sorry, not a connection that I know of...  I have Mary (c1825), daughter of Robert, who married John Jennings in Bath in 1848.

Hello - nice to get an answer on an old post!

Brodribb is a connection, rather than direct line, and I've pretty much sorted them out as far as I want to go with the link to my family (Anna Maria, b. 1825, m. Richard Osman Harding 1847.)

Jones is one of my main lines, and any link would be welcome!  I have William Jones, a coach builder, who I believe married Sarah Hoffman in Bath in 1788.  They had at least 3 children: Charles Luderwick (1789), John (1791 - my line) and William (1799).  William moved to London, while the others reamined in Bath.

Anything connected to this family is of interest to me - I have a lot of info on John's descendants, but less on his brothers, and I haven't anything on William's parents.

Thank you for your reply. The Brodribbs are a side line with me also!

Sadly my Joneses aren't related to you, unless you can go back a long way. In 1791 a Benjamin Jones moved to Somerset from Wales, and the family mostly lived around the Kilmersdon, Holcombe, High Littleton area until my grandfather moved to Bath. Sorry!

Oh well, with a name like Jones it's always worth a shout - we need all the help we can get with them!  Given the proximity, I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out that my line originated in Wales too, but whether I'll ever get any further back is another matter...  ::)
