Moore Family St Georges Carrington
« on: Thursday 12 March 09 19:52 GMT (UK) »
There are 6 Moore family graves in the churchyard at St Georges Church in Carrington all of which I have managed to tie into my family tree although details behind these are sketchy. My ultimate goal is to track down a James Moore of Carrington who was definitely there in 1702 and 1705 as I have his Medical Book and Bible signed by him in the years previously mentioned. Unfortunately he's not in St Georges as I think he predates it. If anyone can provide any clarity on the Carrington Moores it would be much appreciated especially if they could provide any details of James Moore. Thanks in advance.

Hello Robinm
Welcome to Rootschat :)  Hope we can help.
Carrington was/is  in the Parish of Bowdon.  It would be worth looking for your James Moore and family there.   I suspect if you have found your Moore family buried at Carrington they too are likely to be in the Bowdon registers - though it depends what dates we are talking about.

What years of birth have you derived from the Carrington burials?   What names / wives names do you have?  Can I suggest you contact the Trafford Local Studies Library at Sale and ask them what Bowdon / Carrington parish records they have.

Please get back if you want help from us as well.

Regards
Reiver.

Thanks Robinm

What enabled you to jump to these Moores  of the 18th and early 19th Century buried in Carrington from recent times?

Based at present only on the information  you have gleaned from the memorials I suggest you start by looking in the 1851 Census.    I see some of Thomas and Mary's children were born after 1837.   That should enable you to get hold of a birth certificate, which will tell you where and when they were born.  It will also tell you their mother's (Mary) maiden name.  This should enable you more readily to find where and when they were married.

Reiver.
