Anyone have a clue of the age please?   I have tried 9 and got it sent back as wrong.  I tried 17 and again it came back as wrong.   Now i,m lost.   



I dont think i'll ever be a good transcriber  lol

My first thought was 7 too, before looking at Tati's reply!

It looks like a fancy german 7 which always has a little line through the "upright".

I believe there was even a time when english 7's were written this way ??

I would agree with Bob - like the German 7.

Old English - my Mum still writes her "F"  "backwards"!!!!

Charlotte, Fitty said in his OP that he'd tried 17 unsuccessfully.

B-B, I cross my sevens - to avoid confusion.  It's not common here - but certainly not unheard of.  Probably because so many Australians who were educated in Europe write 1 (one) in a way (i.e. with a long upstroke) which could easily be confused with an uncrossed 7 (seven).  Parents (from Berlin) of one of my closest school friends always wrote one thus and crossed their sevens.  And another close school friend (came to Aus from England when she was about 13) always crossed her sevens - and still does.

Fitty, would you like to explain what you mean by "it came back as wrong"!
