Hi,

Has anybody got access to the above? I'm interested in seeing if the Rufford family has an entry.

Yes, but no Rufford pedigree, although there are three or four references where they marry into other families, and they seem to link back to Bucks. I also have the Bucks 1634 Visitation where there is a Rufford pedigree - "of Butlers"

Which names are you looking for?

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies.

I'm actually looking into the Hereford/Worcs Ruffords and noticed that their coat of arms appears to be the same as the Ruffords of Bedfordshire as pictured in the "British-History" section for Bedfordshire and wondered if there was a link between the two groups.

Hi David  & John,

Had a little dig further and found that the Ruffords of Butlers Manor, Bucks also had the same coat of arms which is strange as I thought they were issued to an individual and only descended through the eldest son; younger sons had variants.

I've also found a very dubious LDS pedigree indicating a line back from the Ruffords of Worcester to a Thomas Rufford born c1350 narrying  an Ann Butler of Edlesborough, Bucks.

Is it possible to have let me have a copy of the Bucks listing?

Regards,

Barry

Did you find your link to the Ruffords of Bucks and Beds. I am blood related to them through my mothers side.

Hi,

Never found the link. The seperation must have taken place sometime in the 1400s. These families were never high enough in the social order to get large mentions in the court documents, just the odd sentance here and there.

There are marriage links between the Bucks Ruffords and the Huntley family in Glos who also had marriage links with a local Rufford family.

I'll keep looking into this as it keeps me busy !!

Regards,

Barry
