Arrived Melbourne 1823 Alfred R BROWN and family
« on: Wednesday 18 March 09 16:41 GMT (UK) »
Hello friends,

I have been helping a friend in England research her family and have been quite successful.  Suddenly she threw in an unexpected memory that one of them emigrated to Perth.  I found the family on the Esperance Bay arriving in Melbourne 23 Dec 1923.  Family say that they went on to Perth.  Can anyone help me to find any info on this this family?

Alfred R Brown B. 1877
Edith F Brown B. 1887
Alexander B Brown 1909
Robert R Brown 1911
Colin Brown
Jocelyn R Brown

They came from Eltham in London,
Any help much appreciated,
Abiam

http://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/search.php

you  could do  a search of  the  perth cemetery  a lot of possibilities  there.

At  the start of  the Australia  board  you  will see  "resources"  you  cab find a lot of links for Western Australia

Looking at  the WW2 nominal Roll  there is a Colin Russell brown born 1915 in London enlisted in Perth wife Nellie  next of kin

Looking at  the reverse marriages for WA

BROWN  COLIN R.  PERTH  reg no 2021  Married   1939  TRUMAN  NELLIE

It  would be helpfull  if  you  could give us  Edith and Alfred's parents names as well.

Hi,
we do not have a date of birth for your JOCELYN R. so it is hard to know if the above woman is yours.

Further searching on the Cemetery site which Jenn has given shows this woman to be aged 20, giving a birth date of 1922.

So is that likely?

Anyway, the record shows her interred in "The Spiriualist Section" of Karrakatta cemetery.  Her second given name is RUSSELL
Again is this at all familiar?

Sue

Hi,
Yes, I do think this is your woman.
Here is a likely interment for ALFRED R. BROWN

Same source as Jenn has given.

BROWN,  ALFRED ROBERT aged  87 years in  1964 from SHENTON PARK

As you see the 2 are from the same place and a look at the details of interment shows they are together in the Spiritualist section  and in  exactly the same location...AA 0021

Sue

ADDING  Alred's birth date does not quite match his given birth date

Jenn,
Thanks that was pretty quick!  I only heard about them this afternoon.  I tried to get onto the WA Gov site but couldn't get on.  So they did get to Perth I imagine by boat?
I haven't traced Emilys parents yet will have a hunt for her now but I have their marriage and her maiden name was Russell.
Alfred's parents were Robert Brown and Isabella Cave.
Sue,
Jocelyn -  is from the death registers I presume.  Poor soul only twenty years old.  I would think this is the right Jocelyn as I feel it is a fairly uncommon name.

Thanks for your help and I'll investigate Perth further now I know they went there,
Cheers,
Abiam
