Sorry it wasn't a link it was in message 3 saying that he had enlisted and I then went to two of the links given in the WA information.
Thank you all very much for your help on this new, and up to yesterday, unknown family of emigrants to Australia.  You have helped tremendously and I shal look further into the martial arts connection and let you know what I find out.  My friend will be delighted and surprised,
