in the 1950's / early 60's - there was a drapers shop in deanfoot road owned by Polly McPherson. when she died it became a grocery shop and then a book shop.
i have some very old post cards of deanfoot road. please pm me if you would like copies.

Thank you SO much, what a lovely offer, how amazing that there was a drapers shop at 9 Deansfoot Road, West Linton, right up until the 1960's! Grace Aitken, b.1831 was a Draper and her daughter, Elizabeth, b. 1865 was a Draper's Asst.
I wonder in which year Polly McPherson acquired the shop, of if she perhaps was a relative?
They and their husband/father are on 1901 Census living at 9 Deansfoot Rd, so I presume this was the shop as well?
