Hi Linda,

I have spoken to a friend of mine who is a nurse that trained at the Florence Nightingale Nursing Home. She has confirmed that the Nursing Home closed down in the late 1970's and was converted into a block of flats (apartments). We are going to try to find out what happened to their records and I will let you know. Perhaps you could let us have the name of your Great Uncle and we could see what we can find for you.

I was wondering if I too could ask you for your help on the Florence Nightingale records? I was born there February 1970, but had further treatment, the details (doctors, etc.) for which I am quite urgently trying to glean. So, perhaps safer to go for the entire February to possibly June - or the entire 1970. I don't when my parents brought me back there and can no longer ask them.

Would like to send you a private message, but am assuming this is not possible for new members.

I would also like info about the records of the Florence Nightingale Nursing home. I was told that I was born there in 1948 but somehow Germiston was always mentioned? Maybe Germiston was considered a suburb of Johannesburg way back then?
