Sorry Liz, as per email it could be anywhere from Swansea Valleys to Cardigan, but I didn't ask at the time. All I knew was that it was a Welsh quilt and the quilting patterns confirm this. I wouldn't have thought as far east as Cardiff...
None of it seemed relevant until after I moved away and discovered the inscription...

Plenty of branches to follow though - my best guess would be via one of Sarah's three daughters:

Lett, Mary and Margaret but with a father John Williams it will be a trial to follow through!

Orielbenfro - can I be cheeky and ask for death date of the same Martha Howell too please?

Thanks for that - still really would like to find confirmation of birth or baptism for Martha Perkin to George and Ann Perkin, probably around 1788, please. It still eludes me.
I'm hoping Liz can fill me in on the later generations...
O.K. if no one beats me to it I shall study St David's baptism for the baptism of Martha Perkin to Geo & Ann and let you know the outcome. probably next week.

Orielbenfro - can I be cheeky ..................... ask for death date of the same Martha Howell too please?

By all means,   ...................... can you give me some idea of what period you would speculate she died and do you have any idea of parish?

I have noted a burial of a Martha Howel in 1831 at Jordanston and the burial of Martha Howell at Llanhowell in 1835, but have no idea if one or either fit in with your possible requirements.

Martha howell died between the 1851 and 1861 censuses.  She was the wife of Gilbert.  In the 1851 census she says she is 61  and born St David.  They were living at porthyddy in Llanrian parish but probably non- conformist.
Gilbert died in the first Qtr 1880.   Several martha howells on Ancestry in the 1851 census living within a few parishes of Llanrian.   thank you so much for all your help.   LizR

The chances of any burial registers of any N-C chapel for the area being available at the R.O. for this period are minimal at very best. I know of a couple of chapels in the parish so can only look at the burial grounds in the hope her headstone survives, when I have repaired and have my m/c back on the road.

Save "thanks" for later but don't hold your breath.

Thanks Orielbenfro,
Martha's daughter Sarah named her illegitimate son "Ebenezer" - is there a Chapel of this name which could prove a likely local burial...?
